Description

Ammonium Bisulphite Solution is used as an Oxygen Scavenger to arrest oxygen in Water and especially in Sea Water
Oxygen Scavenger is a perfect blending of an active Ammonium bisulphite solution and inorganic chemicals. 

Characteristic and property

Physical State : The material shall be in the form of a clear solution, free from visible impurities.

Turbidity of the Neat Sample,    NTU : 3.0 (Maximum).
Miscibility of 1%    (w/v)Sample in Fine Filtered Injection Water :Should be completely miscible.

Compatibility Test :

Turbidity of the Filtered Injection Water treated with Other Water Injection Chemicals available in the Asset/Basin when mixed with 100    ppm    of Bactericide Sample, NTU : 1 (Maximum)
Thermal Stability Test : Should be stable up to 90 ± 5    °C. Test for Functional Groups :
(a) Aldehyde Group Test (Schiff's or Tollen's Test)    : Positive.
(b) Amine Group Test (Nitrous acid Test)                : Negative.

Performance Test :

(a) On Sulphate Reducing Bacteria : At the start of the test, the Sample Bactericide at 100 mg/litre concentration in duplicate bottles, is inoculated with Sulphate Reducing Bacteria challenge i.e. 1% hioculum taken from a fully grown culture (Test Solution contains 8.9    ml Sterile Injection Water + 1.0    ml (1000 mg/litre ) Sample Solution + 0.1 ml Culture). Serial Dilution up to 10 - 4 dilution of the Sample taken from each of these bottles is carried out at the end of 4 hours Contact Time. Incubation is carried out for 28 days. Test is carried out at 35 ± 1 °C and at atmospheric pressure.
(b) On Aerobic Bacteria: At the start of the test, the Sample Bactericide at 100 mg/litre concentration in duplicate bottles, is inoculated with Aerobic Bacteria challenge, i. e. 1% Inoculum taken from a fully grown culture, (Test Solution contains 8.9 m/ Sterile Injection Water + 1.0 m/(1000 mg/ litre ) Sample Solution + 0.1 ml Culture). Serial Dilution up to 10-4 dilution of the Sample taken from each of these bottles is carried out at end of 4    hours Contact Time. Incubation is carried out for 4 days (96 hours).
None of the bottles should show turbidity till the end of the incubation period.

Test is carried out at 35 ± 1    °C and atmospheric pressure. The Manufacturer shall certify that the Bactericide supplied is stable during storage and transit and also that it does not require any gas blanket in storage. None of the bottles should show blackening till the end of the incubation period.   Applications

As the Oxygen Scavenger is available in Ammonium Bisulphite Solution form it can be easily injected in water and does not require any additional equipment for mixing and dissolved oxygen is remove instantaneously. Toxicity and Handling

 

It can be stored in closed containers away from direct sunlight at ambient temperature. During handling, direct contact with human body is to be avoided. Safety goggles and gloves are recommended for safe handling. On ingestion / eye contact with the product, medical attention should be sought immediately.
