Corrosion Inhibitor For Gas Line Supplier and Manufacturer


Corrosion Inhibition chemicals, which have been successfully used throughout the world over the years. They have been tailored to meet specific corrosion problems and are now applied to topside process streams, main export Oil & Gas pipelines containing H2S. Corrosion Inhibitors give excellent protection from corrosive processes and have been developed to be compatible with all other process chemicals. This product has been developed in our laboratories over a number of years by our team of corrosion experts using state of the art equipment. Corrosion Inhibitors are deployed depending on their function. From field experience, typical dose rates are generally in the region of 5 - 25ppm. These inhibitors are designed to have low viscosity for easy application.

Characteristic and Property

Physical Appearance:   The material shall be a free flowing homogenous liquid at 24 ± 2 °C, free from visible impurities
Viscosity of the Product at 300 rpm using a Fann VG Meter or Equivalent at 24 ± 2 °C, cP…………200 (Maximum)
Corrosivity of the Neat Product, mpy………………………………………………………………………1.0 (Maximum)
Compatibility and Emulsification Tendency of the Product with a Mixture of Untreated Crude Oil Mix (prepared by mixing 140 ml of Crude Oil with 60 ml of AR Grade Xylene) and Brine Corrodant at 24 ± 2°C.
The material shall be compatible with the mixture and shall not form emulsion.
The interface sludge pad thickness shall not be more than 5% after five hours.
Thermal Stability Test : The material shall be stable up to at least 120 ± 2°C.

Performance Tests :

A. Test Conditions :
(I) Corrodant Media :
(a)    It consists of 3.2% Sodium Chloride (LR Grade) Solution in Distilled Water, having Dissolved Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Content in the range of 1250 ± 50 ppmat 24 ± 2 °C .
(b)    Take 140 m/ Untreated Crude Oil and add 60 ml of AR-Grade Xylene.
(c)    The ratio of (a) Brine Corrodant and (b) Untreated Crude Oil shall be 90:10 and total volume shall be 150 ml.

(II) Metal Coupons:
The coupon shall be of API - 5LX steel, with approximate size of 30 mmx 25 mmx 3 - 4 mm of thickness (total surface area of all sides taken together shall be around 18 ± 2 cm2 ). The surface finish shall be 300 emery grit, free from pits and scratches.

(III) Test Temperature : 50 ± 2 °C.

(IV)    Corrosion Inhibitor Dose with respect to the Aqueous Brine Solution : 35 ppm (w/v).

(V)    Exposure Period :
(a)    168 hours for Stagnant Test.
(b)    24 hours for Dynamic Test .
B. Performance Test Methods :
(a) Stagnant (Static) Test :    
Test Coupons will be exposed to! immersed in the Corrodant Media in following Conditions :
(i) A set of coupons in triplicate fully immersed in corrosion medium.

 (ii) A set of coupons in triplicate exposed to vapours of corrosion medium.
(iii)A set of coupons in triplicate partly immersed in corrosion medium. 

(b) Dynamic Wheel Test. 

C. Performance Evaluation :
Calculate the Efficiency of the Inhibitor by comparing the Weight Loss of the Coupon in Inhibited System with that in Uninhibited System (Blank Test without Inhibitor addition) after Tests under both Static And Dynamic Conditions and Visually examine the condition of the Coupons after each test.
Inhibition Efficiency of the corrosion inhibitor should not be less than 80% in case of coupons exposed to vapours and fully immersed under static test.
Inhibition Efficiency of the corrosion inhibitor should not be less than 80% under Dynamic Test.
Inhibited Coupons shall be free from pits and scratches on visual inspection, under static as well as dynamic test conditions. Inhibited coupons partly immersed in corrodant should not develop any deep pitted line at the interface.

Corrosion Inhibitors, when applied correctly, give excellent protection from corrosive processes including presence of H2S in Oil & Gas pipelines. It is extensively used in oil industry. It is designed to preferentially protect weld treatments from galvanic corrosion. The protection provided by the Corrosion Inhibitor Oil Line extends the life of pipelines and process vessels, thus saving on expensive downtime and materials during repair and replacement.

Toxicity and Handling

It can be stored in closed containers away from direct sunlight at ambient temperature. During handling, direct contact with human body is to be avoided. Safety goggles and gloves are recommended for safe handling.

Packaging and Storage

Products can be supplied in 210 liter drums and as per buyer requirement.
