Characteristic and Property

Physical Appearance: The material shall be a free flowing powder, free from visible impurities.
Solubility in Fresh Water at 24 ± 2 °C                      : Should be freely soluble.
Moisture Content at 105 ± 2 °C, percent by mass     :10.0 (Maximum). 

Performance Test with 0.3% Retarder :
(i)    Determine the thickening time of 46% Slurry prepared from API Class `G' (HSR) Type Cement of VISION specifications and Fresh Water and treated with 33% Silica Flour of VISION specifications and 0.3% BWOC of the Sample at 10,000 psi pressure and 100°C (raised in 40 minutes ).
Thickening Time of the treated slurry should not be less than 120 minutes.

(ii)    Determine the Consistency of the Cement Slurry having composition as in 4 (i), using a High Pressure Consistometer. 
Consistency of the treated slurry shall remain below 20 Bc for period equal to at least 75% of the thickening time as obtained in 4(i).

(iii)    Determine API Free Water Content of 44% Slurry.
prepared from API Class `G' (HSR) Type Cement of VISION specifications and Fresh Water and treated with 1% BWOC of the Sample at 24 ° c temperature and atmospheric pressure, as per Test Procedure in API Specification
API Free Water Content of the treated slurry shall not be more than 10% by volume of the total slurry.
Performance Test with 0.5% BWOC Retarder :
(i) Determine the thickening time of 46% Slurry made from API Class `G' (HSR) Type Cement of VISION specifications and Fresh Water and treated with 33% Silica flour of VISION specifications and 0.5% BWOC of the Sample at 10,000 psi pressure and 120 0 C(raised in 40 minutes ).
Thickening Time of the treated slurry should not be less than 240 minutes.

(ii) Determine the Consistency of the Cement Slurry having composition as in 5 (i), using a High Pressure Consistometer. 
Consistency of the treated slurry shall remain below 20Bc for period equal to at least 75% of the thickening time as obtained in 5(i).
Note: The Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in Fresh Water shall not exceed 1000 ppm.

Toxicity and Handling

It can be stored in closed containers away from direct sunlight at ambient temperature. During handling, direct contact with human body is to be avoided. Safety goggles and gloves are recommended for safe handling.
