Characteristic and Property

Physical Appearance: The Material shall be in the form of clear liquid, free from visual impurities.
Miscibility in Water at 24 ± 2 °C……………………………………………………………Shall be miscible in all proportions.
Surface Tension of 0.5% (w/v) Solution of Preflush in Water at 24 ± 20 °C, dynes / cm…………………….30 (Maximum).
Wettability Characteristics with Bentonite……………………………………………………………………Shall be water wet.

Rheology and Thickening Time :
(a) Mix API Class `G' (HSR) Type Cement (44%) Slurry in fresh water and Spacer solution containing 0.5% (w/v) of the Additive in the ratio of 7:3 and measure Rheological Characteristics and Thickening Time (at 1000 psipressure and 90°C). Also determine the thickening time of the neat Slurry at 1000 psiand 90°C.
Rheology: Non viscous mass should be formed.
Thickening time: There should not be decrease in thickening time with respect to neat test slurry.

(b) Prepare 15 cP Bentonite suspension by dilution of 10% Bentonite suspension which has been aged for 72 hours at 90 °C. Load this 15 cP Bentonite suspension to a specific gravity of 1.30 and treat it with 1% (w/v) Chrome Lignite and 2% (w/v) Chrome Lignosulfonate and caustic soda till the pH value falls between 10.0 to 10.5 To this mud, add Spacer solution containing 0.5% (w/v) of the Additive in the ratio of 7:3. Mix it thoroughly on Hamilton Beach Mixer for 5 minutes at low speed and observe rheology.
It should not form viscous mass.
Note: "Detailed specifications are available on request".
